Maybe "Beware" is right.

A local shopping mall has this sign just inside its main entrance.

It always gives me a chuckle. The French is fine - I'd have translated it as "Please watch your step" because une marche d'escalier in French is a step in English.

The English blows me away. It looks like an anglo got the French text and panicked. Or perhaps the stairs are carnivorous and likely to eat one or two shoppers each day.

Of course, I got pay-back for laughing. Moment after taking this photo, I slipped off the bottom step and twisted an ankle slightly. HA!
